Laguna Beach Term Limits

82% of Orange County cities have term limits for their council members
It's time for Laguna Beach to start the Term Limit process.

Let's begin the dialogue here in Laguna Beach. NimbleGov.org is a local group of volunteers who have prepared and submitted an official petition to begin this process.  This action is local, and independent.  It is not part of any group or party.  It does not support or oppose any candidate or any other ballot initiative.  As you can see from the official summary issued by the City Clerk (See Below) this is just about Laguna Beach, and just about term limits for our city council.

This is a three step process:

  1. If enough registered voters sign the petition, the City Clerk approves the petition, then the question about term limits for our City Council will be on the June 2, 2026 primary ballot.
  2. In June 2026, registered voters cast their ballots either for or against term limits.
  3. If the majority votes for term limits, then the term limit clock starts from zero with the November 3, 2026 election. (terms served prior to the 2026 elections do not count toward term limits)
